Beat the Blues day 6
well, yesterday I worked on these. Put some of the birthday stars on the design wall with sashing and cornerstones. I think I'm going to like this!
I finished the 2 quilts of valor and actually took them to guild tonight to hand them off for the binding. They both were quilted with Star and Crescent.

Quilts For Kids
Saturday was a sew-n-Meet for the Indiana Quilts For Kids Chapter. We meet the second Saturday of each month at Bethany Presbyterian Church. You are welcome to join us at any time, for the day or for an hour. You can bring your sewing machine, or not. There's always plenty to do.
This Month Barb taught the Stack 'n Slash Star pattern. I wish I had taken more time to mix my pieces up between the last few seams, but oh well. I'm sure some child will still love it.
I loaded it after the QOV and used the same panto and thread, Star and Crescent and Old Gold PermaCore. The batting is Fairfield 70/30.

Quilt of Valor
Diana Richards, the Indiana Quilts of Valor coordinator will be our guest at guild this week. I wanted to get this one finished to give to her. It's a Disappearing 9-Patch that I started a year and a half ago to use as a demo for the other guild.
I really like this setting for Disappearing 9-Patch quilts. I chose to use a light fabric in the center square, red fabrics in the corners and blue in the center top, bottom and sides. After cutting they are all arranged with the same orientation, rather than mixing them up.
Star and Crescent is the panto by Keryn Emmerson and I used Old Gold PermaCore thread.

I will finish the binding and label and make a pillowcase tonight to go with it.

A Busy Birthday Weekend
I spent a good part of the weekend quilting with Mabel.

First up was a Quilt of Valor made by Janet. I used a new Star & Crescent panto by Keryn Emmerson, that I purchased in Paducah, especially for Quilts of Valor.

I love the look even on the back.

Next i loaded and quilted a little civil war quilt for Lois. I planned to do custom, but Janet was here and suggested Baptist Fan, so, less than an hour later, This one was finished.

Next, my own Quilt of Valor, using the same Star & Crescent panto.

All these quilts have Hobbs 80/20 batting and used Permacore Dyed natural thread.
I had a wonderful dinner with Julie and her family. We visited the Columbian Park Zoo and were there when the sand storm blew in. That wasn't fun at all and I think I still have sand in my eyes. But, it was very nice to spend time with them.
