One of the purposes of my blog is to serve as a quilting diary for myself. People ask me all the time, "How many quilts have you made?" I have no idea, so I am trying to make a list, but it's really hard to remember every one. I know that I've taken photos of all of them, but haven't made any sort of journal entry. This year I am keeping track of my accomplishments in an Excel Spreadsheet and a composition book when I finish a project.
Hi Ruthie, thanks for sharing your chart! I need to do one! I also have gifted you with the "You Make MY Day" Badge! Thank you for sharing your talents!
ReplyDeleteI've been keeping a spreadsheet for several years and love being able to go back and see what I accomplished. Make sure you back it up. I had a computer crash one year and lost half the spreadsheet and couldn't remember what was on there.
ReplyDeleteI think a spreadsheet that lists all of your quilts is a wonderful idea. It lets you remember all of the things you have made and given away, when you started certain projects, etc.
ReplyDeleteI had thought about journaling each quilt individually, but I tend to work on more than one at a time, and I start and stop too much. I think a blog is the best way to journal it all - your days, what projects you work on, when you switch from one project to another, etc. It is a great way to document how you have changed over time as well.
I just looked at your spreadsheet. I really like the comment section, and will add it to mine. I have a finished column where I put in the date finished. Helps document things. I put in a formula to see what percentage of quilts I have started are finished. I am working on upping that percentage.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea of using your quilting blog to motivate you to finish UFOs... I might have to copy your idea!
ReplyDeleteI'll be keeping an eye on your blog. You sound like a fun quilter. :)
