then a tropical leaf border which I traced the leaves on and then connected them. The light green border, I don't know the name of that pattern.....I have a small stencil of it, but I did this freehand.

A 4-petal flower in each block and a leaf design in the sashing.

I wonder if I need to add something in the little 1/2 inch border around the blocks???
I think this posts answers the question at the end of my last post http://patchesquiltworks.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful!
It is a beautiful combination of designs. I like the freehand tropical leaves.
ReplyDeleteThe area is narrow enough to get away without quilting-a nice rest for the eye, right?!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't quilt in the small borders but I probably would SID around them, especially if the backing is a solid where the quilting will show.
ReplyDeleteRuthie, that looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous quilt! I recognize the pattern as 4 Patch Stacked Posies. I have made several of these quilts but have been left wondering how to quilt them. Your quilting definitely enhances this quilt. If I understand your post correctly, you quilt the borders first? And then work your way to the blocks after doing the border?
ReplyDeleteI am doing the borders first in the quiltable area, and then the blocks. Then I advance and repeat that process.
