Raspberry Dessert and A Giveaway!

Raspberry Dessert is the name of the Quiltmaker's Scrap Squad quilt #2 for 2011. Mine doesn't look anything like raspberries though. I had a purpose in mind when I started this quilt. It was to be a wedding gift for Dan's niece, Annie and her husband, Josh. The colors in their home are aqua, teal and brown.

I started out with some ideas in EQ



and decided on this one:



I used 5 different teal fabrics (3 FQs and 2 half yards), 2 medium browns, 4 dark browns, and 2 cream prints. Not nearly as scrappy as my 1st Scrap squad Quilt, is it?
All cut and ready to begin sewing:



Here it is coming together on the design wall. I'm really liking it at this point.

But I wanted mine to be queen size, so I auditioned some borders. When I chose the borders, I planned to do custom quilting, but changed my mind at the last minute. And here is the finished quilt

    OH that quilt looks great! Love the colors! I think that I would use my old stand by - pink and brown. :)

    Love your colors, but I have been mulling over doing a quilt for a dear friend who loves purples, so maybe purples, whites, with maybe some sunny yellows to add some pop.

    Ruthie, I love your color choices. I think I would make it in those same colors for one DGD and the substitute some raspberry pinks for the teals for DGD#2. I can't show them this right now,too many quilts ahead of new ones for them!

    I love these colors together. A goregous quilt that I'm sure Annie and Josh will cherish. There is a great King Tut varigated thread in these colors that you will have to check out for the quilting. Curious, what had you thought about to do different for the borders? Julie's patterns are very nie. Sandi

    I love those colours together...I have made a couple of quilts in those...either that or I use BRIGHTS...with lime green as the neutral!

    I would like to try it in the 30's repros. They are such bright colors and I think they would look really good with a light background. Your colors are great together.

    To be honest, I am not sure what colors I'd use. First I saw the rsapberry, then all of the scrappy, but then while yours is still scrappy it is not so scrappy based on your color choices. Very modern and nice. Perhaps mine would end up being totally scrappy. Ive actually got a bunch of scraps and have yet to make an officially scrappy quilt. Thanks!

    Teal and brown are great color choices. Your quilt is beautiful! I love scrappy quilts, so I would throw in some burgandy, navy, forest green, brown, and cream colors. I just might even add a touch of plum to the scrappy mix! After all- purple is my favorite color! :)

    Hum, I'm thinking black and brights. Nifty quilt -- I like your color scheme but I have so few aqua/turquoise I'd never be able to have more than a mug rug!

    I was immediately drawn to your version because I love teal. But I might try Raspberry Dessert in purples because I'm seeing so much of it this spring.

    I love your color combination! I would have to wait and see who the quilt would be made for before deciding on the color scheme I would use. So many possibilities with such a versatile pattern!

    I would use Strawberry Fields by Sandi Henderson as my center, with some more reds and creams.

    I really like this pattern but wasn't completely sold on it. And then there was this picture of your quilt on her site and now I'm in love with it. I think I would use a similar color scheme with jewel tone greens and browns or maybe black depending on what greens. Your quilt is lovely!

    I would like to see this quilt done in shades of blue! But then since blue is my favorite color I would like to see every quilt in shades of blue. Have I done a blue and white quilt yet, no but one of these days!!! Vandy

    I just visited the other sites you posted using this pattern and was crazy about the scrappy one. I'd never have thought to do it scrappy but now I think a scrappy 30's quilt would be amazing.

    I think I'd use batiks in this quilt and make it kinda scrappy with light/darks/brights.
