Peggy's 10-Minute Blocks

Peggy and her co-workers made this beautiful quilt using a 10-minute block pattern. It sure looks like it took them more than 10 minutes per block. Her colors and layout came from Kathy's blog Tamarack Shack.
I quilted it the same as Kathy's quilt and I hope it's OK, since I'm giving her credit for the quilting ideas.

A simple meander in the background, a feather motif in the triangles, and spineless feathers in the border.

Carla's Green and Gold Batik

Carla made another one of these beautiful quilts with half-square triangles and thin sashing. The fabrics on this one are very close and you don't really see the pattern unless you look really close.

She asked for the same quilting as this one.

Charlotte's Baby Quilt

Charlotte made this adorable baby quilt for a friend who is expecting a new grandson. The pattern is a simple Trip Around The World and it's made in flannels so it will be snuggly soft for that new baby boy.

We chose Popcorn panto and Lite Blue PermaCore thread, and I used a cotton batting which she provided.

The backing is a light blue minkee fabric.

Design Wall

Last week I received my exchange blocks from Quiltmaker's Block Party in Williamsburg, Virginia. I'm pretty happy with the blocks and will probably make a Quilt of Valor with them.

Mine is the block in the center.

Carla's Friend Quilt #5

I think this may be the last of the quilts that Carla made for her friends. This one is just as beautiful as the others. It may be upside down in this photo.

I chose Fay Feathers panto and Omni Pearl White thread.

The backing really shows the quilting well. I'm never really sure what color thread to use in the bobbin with a backing like this, but the Pearl White looks good on all the fabrics.

Calise's First Birthday

My granddaughter, Calise, turned had her first birthday this past weekend and there was a beautiful party to attend. I wanted to make her a minkee/flannel quilt, thank to a suggestion from Julie, and I found this fabric all stitched together at Joann's. I appliqued her name in fleece to add another texture.

Just a meander for the quilting.

The backing is minkee too.

Waterworld for Sue

Sue made this beautiful quilt and I chose Waterworld as the quilting design. The quilt reminds me of coffee and Waterworld reminds me of steam curling up out of the mug.

I used Glide Tan thread after trying a beautiful Ricky Timms thread that she brought. I couldn't get it to stitch correctly without breaking the thread. After 4 tries, I gave up and picked this thread that has the same sheen to it.

Design Wall Monday

Here's one more project from the weekend.

My guild had an I-spy hexagon exchange earlier this year. There were 10 of us and we each chose 10 fabrics and cut a hexagon from each of them for each participant, so we all ended up with the same 100 hexagons.

I chose a yellow fabric to go with mine and I think I will add a narrow border with the yellow and then another narrow border in a contrasting color and then the final border. I have to look at it for awhile to see what other colors I might like.

Quilt Camp

Last Thursday I went to a guild quilt camp at camp Tecumseh. We stayed until Sunday late morning and then I had a baby show to attend, so it was a busy weekend.

My projects included working on Matt's brown and tan quilt, that I don't have an updated photo of, but will soon, then I hand sewed the binding on the twin size Starry Eyed Countdown to Christmas quilt. Julie came to camp on Saturday to pick this one up. I'm donating it to raise money for the Alzheimers Walk. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. If you would like to purchase any tickets, let me know.

I hand sewed the binding on this baby quilt for Margaret's new grandson.

Then I sewed the leftovers together for a NICU quilt.

I also put together this memory quilt. It's made with some hawaiian clothing that belonged to my friend Peg, who passed away earlier this year after a struggle with cancer. She loved Hawaii and made the trip often. This quilt will go to her parents and I hope it will make them smile.

Being at camp, and especially packing up to go home makes me anxious to get to Shipshewana in October. It will be here before we know it.

For Carla's Granddaughter

The blocks in this quilt were made by members of Carol Hopkins small group for Carla's granddaughter, as a wedding gift. It's an exceptionally stunning quilt and I felt honored to quilt it for them.

Lots of Labor this Weekend

After I finished with Margaret's quilt, I loaded one from Marissa.

Since I had Popcorn on the table, that's what I used for this one also. Omni Spearmint thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting.

Next up was Lois's floral quilt. It's not real big, but very busy.

I used Whirlygig for the quilting, Permacore white thread and Hobbs 80/20 bleached batting.

Design Wall Monday

Nothing on my design wall because what was on there last week is finished and I'm not starting anything new until I get to Quilt Camp on Thursday.

I'll be working on these while at camp. The top 2 are a row quilt and I have all the applique pieces ready to cut out and fuse on. The rail fence pieces are left over from Margaret's quilt and I thought I would make a NICU quilt. The golden book panel is a book for Calise who will be one year old on the 16th of this month.
