UFO Finish

We had to have our furnace replaced this week and had ductwork added and central air. We are so pleased with the finished product. Talking with the installer we discovered he is raising a 9-month old baby boy on his own. I said to him, "I make quilts!. It's what I do!" So, I went in search of a UFO for a little boy.

I found this top from a guild hexagon swap in 2012. There were 10 of us and we each cut 10 hexagons of 10 different fabrics. So, we each ended up with the same hexagons and we could put them together as we wanted. This has been a top for a long time.

I quilted it with Becker's Shooting Stars and applied machine binding. Told him that it's an I-Spy quilt and he can play games with his little boy when he's a little older

How cute are these hexagons?

It's good to have this one finished and off the UFO list.

17 in 2017

It has taken me a while to figure out how to get my photos on these blog posts. I used to use Picasa to upload all my photos, but with my IPhone, I don't use that any more.

Yesterday I quilted the 17th quilt of the year. The four I did yesterday were all small, baby quilt size, but they're still quilts.

There were 2 of these for a fundraiser in Crawfordsville. Shannon made them and will donate them.

Meander quilting with Pirate Green thread.

I quilted this scrappy squares quilt for Becky.

Bountiful Feathers quilting with lite tan thread.

Sharon made this redwork quilt and it's my one custom quilt of the week.

Weekend Retreat

The planning committee for Commn Threads Spring Break retreat had a weekend retreat to do some planning and get our ducks all in a row for the upcoming Route 66 retreat. We traveled a little over an hour to River Retreat Center in Perrysville, IN.  Very nice one story house for up to 10 quilters. The owners were great to work with. Will probably be back.

I finished the Amish With a Twist 3 quilt.

Added top-stitching on these birthday table runners.

Added the last border piece to this little quilt. I'll have to search my blog to find out the details of this one. I do know it has been in my sewing room for some time, miss new one side of the border. I found that strip of fabric when I sorted my Christmas fabric last week.

I made some progress on my ongoing leader/ender project.

Tomorrow it's back to customer quilting.

Back to Customer Quilting

Christmas vacation is over for me :(
It really wasn't a vacation because never stopped sewing/quilting, but Dan went back to work today. I loaded and quilted the first customer quilt of the year.

Phyllis made this cute 70" x 80" quilt and it was one of the flattest quilt tops I've had the pleasure of quilting.

I chose Turbulence by Apricot Moon Designs for the quilting, white thread and Quilters Dream Poly batting.

Who wouldn't be pleased to own this one?

After I finished quilting this one I tackled my tote of Christmas fabric. It's been a long time since I even looked inside this tote. I sorted and ruler folded the larger pieces.

I pulled out all the smaller than a fat quarter size to cut down to 2.5" strips 5", 2.5" and 2" squares.
