Beat the Blues day 6
well, yesterday I worked on these. Put some of the birthday stars on the design wall with sashing and cornerstones. I think I'm going to like this!
I finished the 2 quilts of valor and actually took them to guild tonight to hand them off for the binding. They both were quilted with Star and Crescent.

Beat the Blues Day 2
One of my #8 UFOs is a pile of birthday blocks from an online group many years ago. We got to choose our color preference and everyone made a lemoyne star variation in those colors. I wasn't sure what to do with them but I think I have a plan.
They are arranged like this:
They are arranged like this:
The sashing will be 3 piece rails in assorted colors with 9-patch cornerstones. I saw this quilt photo last year that I'm using for inspiration. I'm not too sure how it will look with the white rail fence strips right next to the blocks with white backgrounds. We'll see how it goes.
I also started quilting Mary's cross quilt. More photos tomorrow.

Birthday Stars

I just love these stars!
I've been using this Sarah's Choice pattern to make my Birthhday Stars for my online friends and have really enjoyed making them. I have all my stars made for the rest of the year.

So much so, that I decided to use the smaller pattern to make my row for Gayla's Row-by-row. Her fabrics are great and even Dan liked this row when it was done.

Here are my crayons for the challenge along with the pillowcase I made.

Spring Break at Mardi Gras
Our retreat was a huge success!!!!
Thanks so much to Peggy, Debbie, Marla, Adrienne, Angie and Julie. You guys helped make it run so smoothly.
I can't believe that it's over. Next years retreat....Spring Break in Vegas!
I got quite a bit accomplished including this Quilt of Valor:

It's for the Nancy's Notions QOV challenge and I used the Zig-Zag tutorial here on AmandaJean's blog.
This NICU quilt, Beach Party from More Nickel Quilts by Pat Speth:

These birthday star blocks for some of my online friends:

These truck and tractor blocks for Andrew's quilt. They still need tires appliqued on and I need to figure out how I'm going to set them. The original Convoy quilt wasn't meant to be put on a bed, but is square and on-point.

Our project for the retreat was Thread Catchers and a bunch of them were made.
Lots of pictures of the retreat are here.
