UFO Chart

One of the purposes of my blog is to serve as a quilting diary for myself. People ask me all the time, "How many quilts have you made?" I have no idea, so I am trying to make a list, but it's really hard to remember every one. I know that I've taken photos of all of them, but haven't made any sort of journal entry. This year I am keeping track of my accomplishments in an Excel Spreadsheet and a composition book when I finish a project.

I've been keeping a spreadsheet for several years and love being able to go back and see what I accomplished. Make sure you back it up. I had a computer crash one year and lost half the spreadsheet and couldn't remember what was on there.

I think a spreadsheet that lists all of your quilts is a wonderful idea. It lets you remember all of the things you have made and given away, when you started certain projects, etc.

I had thought about journaling each quilt individually, but I tend to work on more than one at a time, and I start and stop too much. I think a blog is the best way to journal it all - your days, what projects you work on, when you switch from one project to another, etc. It is a great way to document how you have changed over time as well.

I just looked at your spreadsheet. I really like the comment section, and will add it to mine. I have a finished column where I put in the date finished. Helps document things. I put in a formula to see what percentage of quilts I have started are finished. I am working on upping that percentage.

I love your idea of using your quilting blog to motivate you to finish UFOs... I might have to copy your idea!

I'll be keeping an eye on your blog. You sound like a fun quilter. :)
