The Winners!
We watched the Oscars tonight and although I didn't see most of the movies that were nominated, I still enjoyed watching. I do want to see The Social Network, The King's Speech and True Grit.
I stitched the hanging sleeve on my Shadowbox quilt that is going to "A Gathering of Quilters" quilt show next week. I've never been to this show, but it sounds like a nice one, and of course, it's always nice to see your own quilt hanging. The show is March 18-19 in Schererville, IN at The Patrician Banquet Center.

More Lotto Blocks and Sweatshirt Closeups
After having a wonderful dinner with Julie and the kids, I finished the other 2 lotto blocks last night. This block absolutely had to be laid out and two pieces picked up and sewed at a time. It would have been really easy to get them mixed up.
Here are some close-up shots of the sweatshirt jacket. Once all the pieces had been stitched to the sweatshirt with a zig-zag stitch, I quilted it with a simple meander. I used a decorative stitch on the sleeve edges and also on the binding.

The sleeves
The bottom curved front
I worked a little bit on a doll also. Here are some of her clothes:

Guild Retreat Lotto Blocks
I have 4 of my planned 6 lotto blocks made for our guild retreat next week. The theme is Spring Break at Mardi Gras, so Peggy has picked out 3 blocks from quilterscache for us to make. One purple, one green and one gold. Our name goes into the drawing for each block we make and the winner drawn for each set of blocks will receive all of those blocks. I'm taking some stash fabrics for sashing and borders, just in case my name is drawn.

Stashbusting 2011 - #8
Fabric Added this week - 1.5 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date - 4.5 yards
Fabric Used this week - 3.5 yards
Fabric Used Year to Date - 40 yards
YEAR TO DATE STASH USED: 35.5 yards
I intended to use all stash for my latest Scrap squad quilt, but while at Hobby Lobby with Janet, I saw a stripe that would make a perfect binding, so I bought a half-yard. I also purchased a yard of football fabric for Gentry's football quilt.
The Scrap Squad quilt is all quilted and I'm working on handsewing the binding on.

Odds and Ends
My Valentine's Day rose:
I finished my sweatshirt jacket last night and I must say that it looks much better on my co-worker Margaret than it does on me. The sleeves are SHORT, even though I added a 1" binding to them, they could have used 2" at least. Maybe the cuffs could have been re-attached? The jacket itself is rather short, but I guess not too bad. I will probably be making another one of these, maybe not so scrappy next time.
Here is Jane's row-by-row. I made two inch 4-ptch posie blocks and put them on point.
Can you guess what this is?

Design Wall Monday
Nothing on my design wall today, but this is what is in progress today.
A sweatshirt jacket!
Linda, a guild member taught a workshop on Saturday and mine is coming along nicely. I still need to stitch the binding on and then it's finished.
More Door Prizes
These are from Clothworks, Pellon, Cedar canyon Textiles, Bobbin Central, Hawaiian Fabric Shop and Dill buttons. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Stephanie's Table Topper...Finally!
It's been done for a couple days now, but I didn't get any full shots of it until today. Stephanie moved to Georgia in January. Hopefully, I'll still get to do some quilting for her.
This pretty table topper has line dancing in the center and freehand flowers and leaves in the outer border. The inner border has rotating leaves. Hobbs 80/20 batting and PermaCore eggshell thread.
Really a fun one to quilt!

A Little Straightening Up!
The Scrap Squad members were talking about sharing sewing room photos and I decided to go in and take some pictures. Here's the before:
I felt rather ashamed when I uploaded the photos to my Picasa album, and went right back in there and straightened some things up. Here's the after:

Blizzard Day #2
I worked yesterday until almost 5:00 and then made my way home to watch this monster storm arrive. I loaded the Rhapsody in Bloom Table Runner and quilted it....checking outside often....waiting for all that snow to arrive.
It didn't take me any time at all to quilt this little thing with continuous curves and some wonky feathers on the ends. Warm & White batting and Eggshell Permacore thread.
We didn't get nearly as much snow as was expected, about 4-6 inches, but we got lots of sleet and it took me a while this morning to get out of the driveway. Once I was on the street, it was fine.
Kudos to the Lafayette Street Department, as my way to work was cleared very well.
Only 2 of our employees didn't make it in to work today, hopefully, they can make it in safely tomorrow.

Blizzard Quilting & Best Quilting Blogs!
What do you do at the start of a blizzard?
Quilt, of course!
Last night was the beginning with just a bit of snow, and then sleet. Now, we're in the calm before the real storm, I guess. We're supposed to get up to a foot of snow starting this afternoon and continuing into tomorrow.
I quilted these two little quilts last night, the first one is one of my UFO's. It is Christmas Tree Lotto Blocks that I won from Patches Quilt Works here.
I added a border a while back and it's been hanging since then. Quilting the Winter Pines last week motivated me to do this one also.
Then I loaded and quilted the baby squares quilt.
At least I'll have some bindings to do while the snow falls.
I've been featured on Guide to Art Schools' list of the Top Quilting Blogs. I'm not quite sure why as there are hundreds of blogs out there much more interesting than mine, but I'm honored just the same. Check out the link on my sidebar.
