Gayla's Antique Fans

I'm ashamed to say that I've had this quilt for a very, very long time. Gayla moved away and you know how the saying goes, "out of sight, out of mind!" Well, that was the case. I also didn't know how I was going to quilt it.

She sent a cone of Orange King Tut thread so I used that along with orange Glide prewound bobbins. Very nice stitches and I didn't have to play with my tension at all. I love it when that happens.

Baptist fan quilting for this one. I chose that partly because the sides don't have any borders, so I thought an edge-to-edge design would work best.

And the back, which doesn't show the fabric very well. Just the lower left corner you can see the true colors.

Snowman Collector

Gayla made this wonderful Snowman Collector quilt and what a lot of beautiful redwork there is here.

I did a wide crosshatch in the blocks, CCs in the 1" sashing pieces, an 8-pointed snowflake in the star blocks and meandering with snowflakes in the borders.

She moved to Arizona earlier this year, so this will be the most snow she sees this holiday season.

Gayla's Block of the Month

This quilt was made my friend Gayla. I believe it was purchased at Joann's as a block of the month. I used the Baptist Fan template, camel PermaCore thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting.

I have 4 quilts to quilt for her and I guess I did this one with a house because she moved to Arizona this week and is in search of a new home.
