Meandering Magic
I have been flipping through Suzanne Early's Meandering Magic book for weeks now, trying to get the courage up to try some of her wonderful ideas. This little quilt belongs to my friend Dottie and she didn't give any specific quilting ideas, so I thought I would give it a try.

Awards and Challenges
Look what I received........an award for finishing another UFO in Peg's "Finish Five By The End of July" challenge.
Speaking of challenges, I started stitching my first long sock for the Lost Socks Swap. They take a bit longer than the short ones. Now I see why Mar did her long ones first.

What a Great Place to Work!
The day after the flooded building we were each given one of these mugs.
the National Group is "going green" and we are working towards FSC Certification. There will no longer be styrofoam cups in the break room for coffee. Instead we all have our very own mugs. Very nice ones at that! And they came filled with lots of goodies.
Tomorrow is Free Lunch Friday, something he does for us during the really busy times in the summer. I believe it's Jimmy John's day.

Water, Water, Everywhere!
We came to work this morning to a flooded building. These shots do not really show how bad it was, but you can get an idea. A drain from the roof came loose and this is the result:
Thankfully, the production area was not affected, only the offices.
I took a photo of a finished top this morning, but really don't have room to lay it out at home for a good picture. I bring them in to work and lay them on the floor in front of my office door and go up on the balcony and shoot the picture from above.
this is where I usually lay them out, but not today.

It's a Bonnie Hunter pattern called Pineapple Blossom and used up a bunch of my green scraps.

Finish 5 By The End of July
I have completed a total of 3 of my 5.
My first finish, I forgot to say it was part of the challenge, but here's that one.
Number 2 is this bow tie table topper/wall hanging. I can't decide which it will be, but the important thing is it's finished. It is 30x30 and I couldn't decide on a border and didn't want to put one on just for the sake of adding a border, so it has none.
Number 3 is this baby quilt for Project Linus. The blocks are leftover from an online colorful block swap from several years ago. I assembled the quilt and had these blocks leftover. They sat for quite a while but were listed as one of my UFO's for this year.

He's Here!
Jeff arrived last night and what a sight for this mom's eyes! He's on leave and spent last week in Columbus, Ohio. Last night he drove up on this. He told me the name of it and all that, but I don't remember. I just know that it it very shiny and looks like it was made for him. Hmmmm....looks like a new tatoo!
He looks just great and we had a wonderful dinner (thanks Dan) with Jeff, Kale and his girlfriend, Denae. (I probably didn't spell that right, sorry!) I can't wait to meet Jeff's Dané at the pool party at Julie's on Friday.

I'm still heading in the right direction, but had to purchase some backing fabric that was on sale at Hancocks of Paducah for $1.99/half-yard.
