A Day At The Fair

Our county 4-H fair is happening right now and Dan and I went to check it out on Monday. We enjoyed a ribeye steak sandwich and an ear of corn. It was all I could do to sit there and eat calmly What I really wanted to do is go to the Home Ec Building, where the Open Show items were to see if I had a pretty ribbon on one of my quilts.

But, I sat, and ate, and had a nice conversation with some friends. Finally, on to the quilts....

Here it is, a beautiful ribbon........which means that it will be going to the State Fair, I believe. Several of my quilting friends also had champion and reserve ribbons on their quilts.

This is the whole quilt.

Congratulations, Ruthie! I won a 2nd place ribbon at our county fair last weekend! Isn't it the best feeling?

Definitely congratulations are in order. It is exciting to get your quilt in the state fair, but we know your quilts are well worth the privilege. Congrats again.

If you were in 4-H, this would mean the quilt goes on to the State Fair. However, that doesn't apply for adult projects; it must be entered in the State Fair just the same as the County Fair. In fact, if one wishes, they can skip county fairs all together, and just enter the State Fair. And, any county fair is open to any Indiana resident. So, get going, and enter in the State Fair, and I'll bet it gets a ribbon there, too!

Hey Linda, Thanks for the info. I guess I was thinking that Open Show was just like 4-H and Viki emailed me to tell me that I should have entered it in the state fair weeks ago. Since the deadline has passed, the entry fee is $60. I think I'll pass this year. That $60 could buy lots of fabric and wine in Madison!
