I can't believe how long it's been since I posted. 6 Weeks to be exact. Yikes! I'm going to schedule some posts to finish out the year.
This quilt was on my sidebar for a long time. It was made by Virginia and It's just cute as can be. It's a Disappearing 9-patch and she used a layer cake, I think.
I quilted it with a new-to-me panto called Flower Child, by Apricot Moon Designs.
I really had to pay attention to the coming in and going out of the flowers because if my mind was wandering, I could mess up really easy. I actually did that about 12" from the very end when I was doing just a half row.
I used light pink Omni thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting.
This will be one of my favorite pantos, I can tell.
Here's the back, which is a flannel.
Cute, cute quilt!

Quilt of Valor
Diana Richards, the Indiana Quilts of Valor coordinator will be our guest at guild this week. I wanted to get this one finished to give to her. It's a Disappearing 9-Patch that I started a year and a half ago to use as a demo for the other guild.
I really like this setting for Disappearing 9-Patch quilts. I chose to use a light fabric in the center square, red fabrics in the corners and blue in the center top, bottom and sides. After cutting they are all arranged with the same orientation, rather than mixing them up.
Star and Crescent is the panto by Keryn Emmerson and I used Old Gold PermaCore thread.
And the back:

Kathy's Beautiful Baby Quilt
It's was a week filled with baby quilts, as you can see.
Kathy made this oh-so cute disappearing 9-patch quilt for her beautiful granddaughter. I wonder how many quilts she has by now?
I just love how colorful this one is. I can tell that she used the pink polka-dot for the center block, the bears and flowers for the corners, and the other polka-dots for the centers. I think it's great! I may teach this one to the Quilts For Kids stitchers.
Popcorn panto, since it was already rolled out, pink thread, I think! and she brought a batting.

Retreat Projects
I did get some sewing done at retreat, but not quite as much as usual. I started this quilt for Elizabeth using paper doll fabrics. The clothes are ironed onto fusible fleece so that they will sort-of stay on the dolls. This will probably be for her 2nd birthday next January, so I have a while to get it quilted. I layed some of the clothes on the borders and I really like how they look. I may fuse some onto the border also. The clothes will be stored in a pocket on the back.

Then I got to the outer borders on this kit that I purchased in St. Louis in June of 2008. Can't remember the name of the shop, but they had one hanging and I loved it. It was embelished with crystals and the quilting was awesome. I have solid black for the outer borders, but I think I want something else, maybe with a bit of white or red in it.

Isn't this just the cutest fabric? It reminds me of Dan's parents who love to travel.

I got the center of Andrew's train quilt finished using disappearing nine-patch blocks. I plan to applique a train engine on a top border and the words choo-choo on the bottom, and then a border around the whole thing. He loves trains, you know!

Sue's Disappearing 9-Patch
This quilt of Sue's turned out so very cute. She came over on Tuesday and quilted it herself. This is the third time she's quilted and she does a very nice job.

Here's a better photo of the fabrics:

When she took the batting out of the bag, I had my doubts, as we had to unfold it very carefully and it seemed a lot like fiberfill to me. But it did lay there nice and neat and quilted up nicely.
