Wedding Bells

Let me introduce my grandson, Tony and his new bride Kendra!

They were married June 14th in an outdoor wedding at my daughters house. It was lovely! The weather was perfect, Kendra did an awesome job of coordinating the event.

She opted to not have a guest book, but instead asked me to make quilt blocks for the guests to sign.

Here are the blocks on my design wall before the wedding. The fabrics are green and brown batiks.

I took the day before the wedding off from my 8-5 job and made the cupcakes, red velvet, chocolate and white.

Here are the white ones:

The chocolate and white have buttercream icing. The chocolate ones used a more serrated tip and the red velvet with cream cheese filling and cream cheese icing has the smooth tops. My ex-husband made the cupcake stand.

Daughter, Julie, daughter-in-law Dané, Elizabeth, Calise and Andrew enjoying some family time together.

Here is my son, Jason, his wife, Kathy, ex-husband, Jack and Andrew, the Ring bearer.

Kendra's Bridal Shower

My grandson, Tony, is getting married in June and I made this quilt for his fiancee, Kendra. She collects elephants and when I saw this elephant fabric, Valori Wells Karavan Marrakech Peacock at fabric.com, I knew I had to make her a quilt.

How cute is this fabric?

The pattern, The Big EZ, is one that Marcia from Rossville quilts showed us at an Old Tippe Quilt Guild meeting. It is one she suggested for using large scale prints.

I chose Luau as the quilting design because the theme of the shower was tropical. Hobbs 80/20 batting and white Omni thread.

I also made the cake, following the beach theme:

The sand is Teddy grahams thrown into the food processor, and the shells are white and milk chocolate.
I made the cute little adirondack chairs the night before using this tutorial. They were supposed to be made with popcicle sticks, but I used some scrap plastic material that we print on at The national Group to make VIP tags and such.

Christmas Gift Quilts

I made 2 queen size quilts for Christmas and had to make a decision on which one to give to Tony and Kendra and which one for Dane and Jeff. Thanks for your help with the decision, Julie!

I chose this one for Tony. The pattern is called The Cut Up by Pieced tree Designs. I mixed up my pieces after each step, for a more random look.

A cozy cream flannel for the backing on both:

This one for Dane and Jeff. The pattern is Patchwork Chevron from Moda Bake Shop and I blogged about it here. (Wouldn't recommend it!) The fabrics are Little Black Dress and Kona cream.

Both are quilted with Feather Me Panto, Hobbs 80/20 batting and Omni lite tan thread.
