Christmas Gift Quilts

I made 2 queen size quilts for Christmas and had to make a decision on which one to give to Tony and Kendra and which one for Dane and Jeff. Thanks for your help with the decision, Julie!

I chose this one for Tony. The pattern is called The Cut Up by Pieced tree Designs. I mixed up my pieces after each step, for a more random look.

 A cozy cream flannel for the backing on both:

This one for Dane and Jeff. The pattern is Patchwork Chevron from Moda Bake Shop and I blogged about it here. (Wouldn't recommend it!) The fabrics are Little Black Dress and Kona cream.

Both are quilted with Feather Me Panto, Hobbs 80/20 batting and Omni lite tan thread.

A Quilt for Maelyn

The first quilt of 2013.
One of my coworkers had a new granddaughter born on Sunday. The baby's mom had given me these fabrics to make some burp cloths and applique the baby's name on some gowns and when I gave the finished pieces to her, she said I could keep the fabrics. I told her I would make a quilt with them and I have actually made 2 quilts with those fabrics.

This one is for Maelyn:

Yikes, that orange zig-zag fabric makes the quilt look wonky! I didn't notice it until I saw this photo. I quilted it with Feather Me, mostly because it was on the table, but I think it is a fine choice for this girly little quilt. Hobbs 80/20 batting and light pink Permacore thread.

The backing is a pink minkee, so soft!

The other quilt is a Baby Bricks and I'll save it for the next baby girl. It's' quilted and the binding is started.

Virginia's Bricks & Stepping Stones #2

This is the second Bricks and stepping Stones made by Virginia for a Chirstmas gift this year. She was schedule to come to the retreat, but had to cancel at the last minute. I really missed seeing her this year and I hope she can attend in 2013.

When I found out she wasn't coming, I meant to get it sent off to her before retreat but I didn't get the pictures taken until today.

It's another lovely one! I chose Feather Me panto, a light tan thread and used a poly batting that she sent.

Mary's Teal and Brown

Mary made this delightful quilt for her daughter and I just love the fabrics!

In the shot of the whole quilt, you don't see all the piecing as some of the fabrics blend together, but there are a lot of pieces in this quilt.

I chose Feather Me panto and used Lime Green So Fine thread.

Carla's Sisters Quilt

I believe this is the first quilt made by Carla's sister and it's a big one, 104 x 108.



I chose Feather Me panto, which I haven't used in quite a while, but I really like it. Omni Pearl White thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting.



There was a bit of fullness in her borders, so there are a fe tucks that she can hand stitch down. It's much easier to do that than try to futz with it as I'm stitching.

Janets BIG flower

Janet bought this duvet cover at Goodwill and took it apart. She added the red border and wanted it quilted. It doesn't look very big, but it is, it's 85x90.



I chose Feather Me panto, Superior Omni Pearl White thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting.

Barb's Fall Colors

I quilted this last weekend, but forgot to post about it. The colors are gorgeous and she actually let me ko a pantograph on this one. She's usually a custom quilter, but I thought this one would do well with the Feather Me Pantograph.

A Quilt Done Last Summer

There was a question on one of my quilting message boards about quilting fleece and minkee. I knew I had done one for Janet last year and so I went in search of it on my blog. I can't find it, so I'm posting it now.

She purchased 2-1/2 yards of each and I quilted it using Feather Me pantograph, PermaCore Strawberry thread. No batting for this one. It quilted like a dream and she says it is just cozy as can be.
