Janet's Purple Strings

Janet made this quilt to be donated to the Vision of Hope facility here in Lafayette. Our guild has been making quilts for them since before they opened their doors. They requested quilts with Purple in them, as all their linens are lavender.

I chose Angel Wings panto and Permacore Lilac thread, along with a poly batting. I'm not used to the poof of poly batting, but it's one that I had here, so I thought this was a great time to use it up.

The lime green in this one really makes all the colors pop. Here is a truer shot of the green fabric.

I'm sure the young woman that uses this quilt will feel the love that it was made with.

Janet's 9-patch

Janet started this 9-patch at our retreat in St. Louis in June. It's for her new grandson, born just a couple weeks ago.

 I quilted it with Popcorn,  Omni White thread, and used Hobbs 80/20 batting

I did the quilting the day before he was born and started the binding for her. She finished it up the day he was born.

Cute as can be and made with love by his grandma!

Janet's Cupcakes

Janet bought these embroidered blocks on ebay and assembled this cute quilt.

I chose to do a panto and Waterworld seemed to make me think of the swirls of icing.

Fairfield 70/30 batting and Omni white thread.

A Finished Project and a Secret Project

Last Saturday, Janet came over and we made a dust ruffle for her soon-to-be new grandson.  We made one of these a few years ago for another grandson, but I think it was easier the second time around.

She made bumper pads for him at our guild sewing day in April. Aren't they cute?

 Here is the secret project. Can't show any more of it just yet.

Janet's 2nd Raspberry's and Chocolate

Here is the second quilt using those yummy browns and pinks.

This one I quilted with Bush Berries. I'm not sure if I have used this one before, but I like how it turned out. The top thread is Lava - Hot Coals. I haven't used any Lava thread in a while, but it stitched out just wonderfully.

Janet's 4-Patch Raspberry and Chocolate

Janet fell in love with pink and brown when it first appeared in quilt shops and has collected quite a collection. This is the first one using these colors. She made this one with just 4-patches.

I quilted it with Fay Feathers panto and used Hobbs 80/20 batting and PermaCore Mother Goose thread. Such pretty fabrics, don't you think!

Janet's Pineapple

Janet purchased this quilt top on ebay and it's a beauty! You never really know what to expect with these, but his turned out to be a great purchase.

I chose Ribbons and Roses for the quilting and a light tan omni thread. She had a dark blue backing, so I didn't want to use white thread. Hobbs 80/20 batting on this one also.

Janet and Mabel!

Janet came to quilt yesterday. She brought her Row-by-Row quilt from last year. It's a very pretty quilt and she did a great job. I made the 2nd row from the left.

We had a false start, as she tried a new panto, Bush Berries, and didn't like the thread or the panto. So, 2 hours later she was off to a much better start, with a lighter thread and Popcorn panto.

Janet's Bug Jar Quilt

Janet made this cute quilt for one of her grandsons who will be 3 years old soon.

I chose a dragonfly panto and what a great choice. Hobbs 80/20 bleached batting and Omni lite green thread.

Janet's Big Red Squares

Janet pieced this quilt of one hundred 9" red and white squares in Shipshewana.

She chose Feather Me panto and I used PermaCore White thread and Hobbs 80/20 bleached batting.

And the back....even Janet said it looks like a tablecloth.

Janet's Auction Quilt #2

This is the second quilt top that Janet purchased on Ebay. I haven't figured out why someone would spend all the time to piece a quilt top like this and then sell it.

I chose the Jacobean panto and I'm very happy with it. See that seam running diagonally through the middle....isn't that odd?

I'm almost half finished hand stitching the binding, so that's what I'll be doing this evening. I can't wait to wash it and see it all crinkled. I just may bid on this one at the auction.

A Quilt for the Auction

Janet purchased this quilt top on Ebay a while ago and when she received it, she decided it could be one for the upcoming Common Threads Guild Auction. I offered to quilt it to add the the value of it.

The fabrics are mostly novelty/holiday and it is a bit wonky, if you know what I mean.

I was planning to do a pantograph, but that wasn't possible due to the fullness/puckers in the top.
So, a good meander is what she got.

It will make a great picnic quilt!

Janet's 1600+ Quilt

Janet made this cute 1600+ quilt for her son and daughter-in-law to use when camping. I call it 1600+ because I'm sure it was much longer than 1600 when the strips were sewn together. It spanned the length of her house several times and I helped her wrap it around a tupperware pitcher, which turned out to be not such a good idea.  At least the strips were contained a bit. It is 75" square and cute as can be.

I just love all the different camping themed fabrics. I had no idea there were so many out there.

The backing is 2 flannel camping prints.

Janet's Bow Ties

Janet has a friend that made these bow tie blocks, using the 10-minute block pattern, and she isn't quilting any longer and is in a nursing home. Janet assembled the blocks and added borders while we were at Spring Break retreat.



I chose to do freehand curls and feathers in the bow ties and a molar feather in the border.

Janets BIG flower

Janet bought this duvet cover at Goodwill and took it apart. She added the red border and wanted it quilted. It doesn't look very big, but it is, it's 85x90.



I chose Feather Me panto, Superior Omni Pearl White thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting.

Janet's Trains and Butterflies

This quilt was made by Janet and has little trains on it. The backing has a French Provenchial feel to it.



I'm not sure of it's intended purpose, but I quilted it with Angel Wings in Old Gold Permacore Thread, with Hobbs 80/20 batting.
