Dottie's Embroidered Quilt

Dottie embroidered these blocks and they look fantastic.

The alternating blocks are 4-Patch Posie blocks.

I chose Bountiful Feathers as the quilting pattern and used a cream Omni thread.

Janet's Cupcakes

Janet bought these embroidered blocks on ebay and assembled this cute quilt.

I chose to do a panto and Waterworld seemed to make me think of the swirls of icing.

Fairfield 70/30 batting and Omni white thread.
Here are some more closeups of the embroidery:

Ah, it's lovely!

Connie's embroidery quilt is finished, binding and all.
I can't wait for her to see it.

Connie's Embroidery Quilt

I'm not finished with the quilting of this one, but it's a great story...

28 years ago Connie started cross stitching these blocks while she was pregnant. She planned to make a quilt with them for her new daughter. It's been a funny joke within the family for many years that Connie will eventually finish the blocks. Well, her daughter is getting married this month and she plans to give the quilt to her at that time. She worked hard to finish 10 of them and brought them to me to assemble them into a quilt. I set 9 of them on the diagonal with muslin in the alternating blocks, setting triangles and borders. There are printed stitching lines, which I am somewhat following.

Laura's Baby Quilt

Laura made this darling quilt for her granddaughter, Chloe. She had baby shower participants decorate a square of paper and then she hand embroidered their designs onto these squares. The colors in this first photo are not very true. The second one is closer.

She had the quilt tied, but was worried that it wouldn't hold up. We decided on the panto Daisy Swirl and I used So Fine and Bottom Line threads along with Hobbs 80/20 bleached batting.

It is an heirloom for sure!

More 1930's Embroidery Quilts

I loaded 3 more of Carla's embroidery wall hangings. It works great if I load 3 at a time.

The blocks are crosshatched and I added ribbon candy to the sashing and feathers to the outer borders.

I have 3 more to do and will probably wait until the weekend to load them.

My mom did a lot of embroidery when I was little and I know I have a box of things in the attic. I'm anxious to get it down and see what I might be able to create with what I find.

Carla's Embroidered Blocks

I have 9 of these little quilts to do for Carla and I have finished the first three.

I used Hobbs poly batting to help with some of the fullness of the center and used Permacore white thread.

Two of them are just one block and the other seven have four blocks.

Napkins and Lots of Embroidery

I worked on these fabric tree napkins for a co-worker last night. I hope she likes them.

Across the room, my embroidery machine was stitching away. Well, with lots of help from me, as it's not as automatic as I might like it to be.

First up was these towels my friend Adrienne brought over. Her daughter is giving these to her boyfriends parents.

And a tennis towel:

Then these fleece throws that Janet brought:

Oops, I have no idea where the name Lilly came from, it was supposed to be Ryan. Maybe I'm not as good at multi-tasking as I thought....

Thank goodness I have my Christmas shopping done and have time for these little jobs for my friends.

Catching Up on BOM & Embroidered Towels

I never did finish the Cheryl's Quilt Shop BOM that was due the last Saturday in November. I was in New York, so I didn't worry about getting it finished. All done now...both of them!

All year I have been planning to set these blocks different than the one hanging in the shop. I would really like a queen size quilt, so I may add these to the 12 1930's blocks I have from an online swap.

While I was sewing these blocks, my embroidery machine across the room was humming along on these towels for A & E. I bought the mitts at Kohl's, but they didn't have towels even close to the colors. I stopped at Target last night and they did. I can't believe how close they match. Turned out nice, I think!
