Catching Up on BOM & Embroidered Towels

I never did finish the Cheryl's Quilt Shop BOM that was due the last Saturday in November. I was in New York, so I didn't worry about getting it finished. All done now...both of them!

All year I have been planning to set these blocks different than the one hanging in the shop. I would really like a queen size quilt, so I may add these to the 12 1930's blocks I have from an online swap.



While I was sewing these blocks, my embroidery machine across the room was humming along on these towels for A & E. I bought the mitts at Kohl's, but they didn't have towels even close to the colors. I stopped at Target last night and they did. I can't believe how close they match. Turned out nice, I think!

Block of the Month at Cheryl's

Today was BOM day at Cheryl's Quilts and this months block was a log cabin. The block instructions called for a white center, but of course I didn't follow the directions. I thought I had read somewhere that the center should be red, signifying the chimney, so that's what I did. Sharon made her center red also, so I didn't feel so bad.

June BOM

I finished the hand applique on this month's BOM at Cheryl's Quilt Shop. Sometimes when I make a block like this, I think I would like to make an entire quilt with these. Maybe I will......hmmmm. I must say that I prefer the Dresden Fans that have a point, like these that I made for a block swap.

This BOM doesn't meet until the last Saturday of the month, so I'm ahead of the game this month.

Cheryl's Quilt Shop

I went to the monthly BOM at Cheryl's this morning to get my new block.

Here are my blocks so far.



We get an extra chance for a drawing if we make a smaller block also, so I have been making 6" blocks along with my 12" blocks. Maybe I'll make Elizabeth a doll quilt with the 6" ones, or maybe they will go in the borders.

Hand Binding to do!, Valentine's Day, and a Block of the Month

I finished quilting this little baby quilt yesterday and the binding is ready to hand stitch. Maybe tonight watching the olympics.



My valentine got me some over the knee socks and they sure are cozy! I wear a short nightgown most nights and he thinks my legs look cold. Thanks Honey!!! I got him a gift card for Culver's because he has a Butterburger every Saturday and Sunday for lunch.



A local Quilt shop is hosting a 1930's Block of the Month and today I stitched my January and February blocks. If you make a miniature block, your name goes into the drawing an extra time, so I made those also. They will make a cute doll or baby quilt.



Here's a Block of the Month Pet Peeve of mine:
This has happened to me before at another LQS. The salvage and fold edges are both on the lines of the mat. Just look at the waste on both sides. Of course, if I didn't care that the cuts were on-grain it wouldn't matter, but I usually take pride in making my cuts straight across the grain of the fabric. I did have plenty of fabric for these and they turned out very nice, so I guess I'll quit belly-aching.
