Beat the Blues day 6

well, yesterday I worked on these. Put some of the birthday stars on the design wall with sashing and cornerstones. I think I'm going to like this!

I finished the 2 quilts of valor and actually took them to guild tonight to hand them off for the binding. They both were quilted with Star and Crescent.

Beat the Blues Day 5

Last evening and this morning I quilted this wall hanging that Elaine made. I guess I worked on it for several hours, yet the actual stitching time was only 25 minutes.

I like to use So Fine thread when I'm stitching in the ditch .

I also quilted almost all of this QOV today.

Beat the Blues - Day 4

Yesterday I went to my granddaughters cheer competition in Indy. It took lots of time away from my sewing/quilting but well worth it. They took 1st place and it amazes me to watch them.

After the awards ceremony we stopped at Quilts Plus. Everything in the store is on sale and I picked up some purple/lavender fat quarters for a new quilt for granddaughter Calise.

Then it was a stop at Panda Express for a late lunch and finally home.

Once home I worked on my sashing and cornerstones some more. Here is what I have done so far.

Beat the Blues Day 2

One of my #8 UFOs is a pile of birthday blocks from an online group many years ago. We got to choose our color preference and everyone made a lemoyne star variation in those colors.  I wasn't sure what to do with them but I think I have a plan.

They are arranged like this:

The sashing will be 3 piece rails in assorted colors with 9-patch cornerstones. I saw this quilt photo last year that I'm using for inspiration. I'm not too sure how it will look with the white rail fence strips right next to the blocks with white backgrounds. We'll see how it goes. 

I also started quilting Mary's cross quilt. More photos tomorrow. 

Beat the February Blues

One of my online groups is having a February challenge to Beat the February Blues by sewing for 20 minutes daily. I don't think I'll have a hard time keeping up with that.

Today I added borders and sewed together the backing for this memory sweatshirt quilt. The owner of the shirts was an avid animal lover, especially dogs and cats.

I also made this iron caddy for a friend who does a lot of charity sewing for our community.

I finished quilting Mary's mothers quilt today with Baptist Fan quilting.
