I did work on these two UFO this week. The bow tie blocks were sent to me by the president of the Blue Star Mothers Indianapolis group. She knows that I'm a quilter and picked them up at a yard sale and mailed the to me. I have them listed as a UFO and didn't know what to do with them. They were hand pieced and not at all the same size. I squared them up, and yes, cut off some of the points! I'm not sure if I will add a border or not.........
Any ideas on when these might have been pieced?
These blocks are left over from an online swap. I added borders to the blocks and striped sashing. I will add an outer border with the black print and this one will be a charity quilt.

Ruthie . . . judging by the neon oranges and greens, I'd guess these to be late 1940's or early 1950's blocks. Bring them to Guild and let some of us take a closer look. I took a class from Barbara Brackman on dating quilts a few years back, and it's very interesting. Also, her book, "Clues in the Calicos" might be of help to date these blocks.
