BIG, BIG, REALLY BIG NEWS!

Oh my gosh, I'm so excited.........I got the big envelope from AQS today saying that our guild's birthday quilt has been accepted in the Des Moines show.

The story behind the quilt:
To celebrate Common Threads Quilt Guild's 10th anniversary we had a block challenge. 5 different celebration fabrics were purchased and members could choose one to use to make their block. At a guild meeting a couple months later, all the blocks were hung and we voted on a winner for each fabric. All except the winning blocks were used to make charity quilts. The winning blocks, made by Gloria Klutzke, Mary Bunte, Cathy Campbell, Lisa Geisler and myself were used to make this celebration clown quilt.
I didn't help much with the assembly of the quilt, that was done by Sue Goecker, Sue Blake and Joan Fulton. But, I did make the spirals and offered some design advice! Joan did the quilting on her Gammill and it is just as cute as can be.

Driving back from Paducah this year, Joan and I decided that we would enter the quilt in the AQS show in Des Moines. So, when I got my new photography stand, we met at Joan's house to take some photos and have a glass of wine to celebrate. I sent in the photos along with the entry form and we waited.

Now we need to get together to plan our trip to Des Moines in October, and have another glass of wine, I'm sure.
