I'm so excited and hope I can sleep tonight. I'm taking the little laptop so I'll be able to post lots of photos.

Today is the Big Reveal Day

You may remember that in December I was working on a secret project. Quiltmaker magazine asked me to sew and quilt a quilt for an upcoming issue. I completed it in 3 weeks and very sadly, I shipped it off to them to be photographed. Lucky for me I had almost enough fabric to make one more for myself. I had to order more border fabric from Hancocks of Paducah and it arrived just so I can get the top completed before I leave for camp on Thursday.



The Quilts from Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks magazine hits the newsstands today and you have a chance to win a copy of it on the Quilty Pleasures blog.

The flowers will be raw edge appliqué, done on the long arm and the vines are bias strips and will be stitched down on the long arm also.

Design Wall Monday

Lotto Blocks for the Retreat

Here are my blocks for the lotto at the retreat. The theme is Spring Break in vegas, so of course, we had to make a card trick block. I actually used this tutorial that I found with some some really great instructions for this block. You cut the pieces larger in this one. The exact cutting come after piecing each of the nine-patch sections.

The other two are just nine patches, but I think they all look great together.

It wasn't a good week for me stash-wise. One of our quilt shops is discontinuing fabrics, notions, books and patterns. I went with Dan to take back a serviced machine and had to look around. They still had some Countdown to Christmas and I have been looking for that to make the Starry Eyed Quilt, so I bought some half yards. I also bought some Pure fabrics and Kona cotton to make a wall hanging for Kale and Lynn to give to one of their neighbors as a housewarming gift. And a couple of 1930's FQs.



I did cut up a kit to take to the retreat on Thursday, but I didn't count that yet and I made 3 lotto blocks for the retreat.

Carla's Scraps quilt

Carla made this quilt with scraps leftover from other quilts and what a pretty quilt they made.



Another one with Bountiful Feathers because I thought it was the perfect panto for these romantic floral fabrics.

When I recorded the quilting of this one in my book, I realized that the last 6 quilts I have quilted have been for quilters whose names begin with the letter "C"

I will be breaking that pattern with Gayla's quilt that is loaded now.

Carolyn's Quilt

Carolyn made this beautiful quilt for her daughter, who picked out all the fabric. I suggested Bountiful Feathers panto and she agreed. It turned out just wonderful and now she says she has started something and will be making quilts for all her children.



I used PermaCore Mother Goose thread, which looks good on the background and the darker fabrics, and Hobbs 80/20 batting.



The backing is natural muslin which shows the quilting well.
