Mary's Nine-Patch

Mary made this cute quilt. I don't know the name, but I'm sure it has something to do with twisted 9-patches.
I didn't take a closeup of the top and bottom borders, but if you look close you can see that the triangles that she whacked off the 9-patch blocks make up those borders. Ingenious!

I rather like how the quilting design mimics the swirly things from afar. I chose Turbulence panto, Honey PermaCore thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting.

Just last moth at guild, I learned that this is a traditional old block (which greatly surprised me), with the name (IIRC) of George Washington's Puzzle.
