Kylee's quilt is quilted

I finished the quilting, Popcorn, on Kylee's quilt this evening after a wonderful dinner with Julie, Andrew and Elizabeth. Tomorrow I'll tackle the binding.

I can't believe how quickly they are growing up. They are both very well behaved and I actually asked Julie tonight if they ever throw a fit. You know the kind, it usually happens in a store, and those big crocodile tears are pouring down some little child's face. I can only imagine they didn't get what they wanted and they'll be fine in a few minutes.

Anyway, Julie, I think you're a wonderful mom!

Pam's Crazy Nine-Patch
Very seldom do I have a customer that doesn't want their quilt's photos posted online. When Pam picked up her quilt last night, she decided to not sign the release for me to post them because she is planning to write her own version of the pattern. So, that one won't be shown here, and you'll just have to take my work for it that it turned out nice.

Comment Moderation

I had turned on Comment Moderation because I was getting a lot of spam comments....at least one per day. Now it appears that the Comment Moderation isn't working either. I have lost 2 comments in the last 2 days.

With Comment Moderation on, I get an email with the comment and a link to click on to Publish, or Reject the comment. When I click on Publish, it acts as though it is going to publish it, but I get an error message and then on my blog, the comment is gone and there are none to be moderated.

How confusing!

I have turned off the Comment Moderation for the time being, but may have to turn it back on again. If you have left me a comment in the past couple days and it's gone, please leave it again. Sorry for all this confusion, but I believe it's a Blogger.com problem.

Design Wall Monday

It looks a bit like last Monday, except the blocks and sashing have been stitched into rows. My goal is to finish this one this week, quilting, binding and all.

I hand stitched the binding on a quilt in the car this weekend and it feels good to get that one finished.

Another one done!

I loaded and quilted Deb's yellow and blue quilt today. I'm not sure of the name, but the panto, Daisy Swirl, by Lorien Quilting that she picked out is perfect for this quilt. The batting is Hobbs 80/20, and the thread is Permacore Light Leghorn.



And the back, which shows a better likeness of the color, a soft yellow.

Happy Independence Day

I hope you have a wonderful day and take some time to think about our country.



We are off to Chicago for an overnight trip and a visit to IKEA. Last year on the 4th, the neighbors and about 50 of their friends took the liberty of lighting fireworks on our side of the driveway and in our yard. Dan went outside to talk to them and the neighbor said, "It's a free country and non of your business. If you don't like it call the police!" So, Dan called the police and....they refused to do anything until after midnight. WTF...They were on our property! Want to buy a house

So, to avoid the same kind of confrontation this year, we're leaving town. Today marks Dan's one year anniversary of being a non-smoker. He actually started taking Chantix on the 2nd, but refers to the 4th as his anniversary. It hasn't been an easy year, but I'm so proud of him!

Jennifer's Chinese Coins

I just finished this beautiful quilt that Jennifer made and of course, it makes me want to make a chinese coins. More photos tomorrow in the daylight.

Crazy Nine Patch

Pam's Crazy Nine Patch has just about driven me crazy....not really, but it has been an experience. She sent Thermore Ultra Thin batting, one I've never used. There's not much to it and certainly not much room for those stitches to lock in place. Picking a quilting design took me a while. After lots of practice drawings, I decided on this stencil. There are lots of colors in this quilt top and I couldn't find anything to mark all the colors, so I taped the stencil to the back of a circle lord template, placed it on my table and used it like a pantograph. Clever, huh?



I think it's a great block design for these fabrics.
